Failure of a peripheral can fall into two categories.

Critical, these faults will normally cause the machine to alarm and be unavailable to play.

Non Critical, These faults may not be detected by the machine and may not cause a system alarm.

An example of a critical fault could be unable to detect hopper, this will result in the machine alarming.

An example of a non critical fault could be poor coin acceptance

A fault with one CCTalk device could cause an error to present on another device so Before attempting to diagnose a fault check the error log to confirm the fault. if multiple devices are showing as faulty please contact Technical Support for more information.

Things to look for in the error log include, frequency of fault, has the same fault occurred before, how frequently has this fault presented and is the fault report the only fault currently being registered.
